Aluminum Used Beverage Can (UBC) (Aluminium UBC scrap) scrap primarily consists of aluminum with trace amounts of other elements. The chemical composition of Aluminum UBC scrap is as follows:

1.     Aluminum (Al): Aluminum is the primary component of UBC scrap, typically constituting around 95% to 98% of its composition. It is the main reason UBC scraps are valuable for recycling due to aluminum’s lightweight, high strength, and excellent recyclability.

2.     Magnesium (Mg): UBC scrap may contain small amounts of magnesium, usually less than 1%. Magnesium is often added to aluminum alloys to enhance strength and corrosion resistance.

3.     Manganese (Mn): Manganese can also be present in UBC aluminum scraps, but in minor quantities. It might be a residual element from the manufacturing process of aluminum alloys.

4.     Silicon (Si): Silicon might be found in UBC scraps, generally in minimal amounts. It’s another element that could come from the manufacturing process or from the coatings on the cans.

5.     Iron (Fe): Iron can be present in UBC scraps in trace amounts, possibly as a result of the can manufacturing process or due to contaminants picked up during usage.

6.     Copper (Cu) and Zinc (Zn): While UBC scrap should ideally be free of these elements, there can be tiny traces of copper and zinc. These might come from printed labels, coatings, or contamination during collection and storage.

7.     Other Elements: UBC scraps might also contain very minor traces of other elements like chromium, titanium, and others, which can come from coatings, paints, or other additives used in the production of beverage cans.
